Faith in Prayer

Praying aloud in unison ,to a learned cadence ,has never been very thought provoking to me. I have found myself wondering what I am praying about and do I really believe what I'm saying.

I have had to take apart the Lords Prayer, the Apostles Creed, the Pledge of Alligence to our Flag , and the Stars Spangled Banner.

Now ,I have something to think about and believe in.

There are times when I don't believe prayer works at all. Then I may have to look harder at what I have been praying for., like praying for a good night's sleep and then missing the sunrise because I'm asleep.

I have everything I need, even a good night's sleep.

Q; God why am I here?

A; Keep looking and doing!

I pray this was worthwhile to any readers!!

Good post!

Good post! It makes me think of a couple of things. Romans 8:26 says "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express."
Prayer is an extraordinarily dynamic action. It can vary greatly between different people and the way they understand it and use it. Fortunately God, through the power of the Holy Spirit is able to translate any prayer. Even the groans we have deep inside of us are understood by God. In fact the above verse would seem to indicate that maybe some of the groans we are feeling inside, words we do not understand, may be the Holy Spirit talking and working.  Sometimes I feel inadequate in prayer when I am unable to "state my case" to God but  it may be those times that the Holy Spirit is speaking for me.
Secondly "keep looking". Yes, indeed! I believe the search for Identity and value can only be found through relationship with Christ.  He said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). He also invites us to be adopted into His family (Ephesians 1:5). In light of this I know I have totally messed up what I've tried to "make" of myself and my real hope is in searching for what and whom He has made me.
